Takaya Tours Inc. is a cultural tourism business owned by the Tsleil-Waututh Nation. Open from May to October, Takaya Tours offers interpretive ocean-going canoe tours and kayak rentals, lessons and tours. Nature walks are also available. The goals of the business are to create a sustainable economic development initiative for the TWN community, educate community members and the public about our Nation’s culture, and create youth employment opportunities. Takaya Tours is a well-known Aboriginal tourism operation in British Columbia and is admired for its positive reputation in the industry.
In the summer of 2008, the Tsleil-Waututh First Nation expanded its operations into Whey-Ah-Wichen/Cates Park in North Vancouver with the official opening of a kayak and ocean-going canoe centre. TWN Economic Development developed a co-management agreement with Deep Cove Kayak that allows for more resources to be allocated to Takaya Tours, creating the opportunity for further business success.
Takaya Tours is a market-ready tourism business and a member of Aboriginal Tourism British Columbia.
